Ok guys as I said before im more mechanic than electrician so sorry for my stupidity.

Ok im confused on what fuses to use with my amp set. Well I know what type just not what rating.

Here's my set up. I have a 4 gauge wire with my fosgate anl fuse holder right by the battery. This 4 gauge will run to a distribution block. With 2 8 gauge wires coming out. This block has the 2 maxi fuse spots. If I have 2 amplifiers rated at 40 I believe, what fuses should I use in the block and anl fuse holder? I bought a 100 for the front anl and then I was guessing to get 40's for the two spots on the d. block?

Any help is appreciated

Yes your 8 gauges should be the same or a little more than each of your amps max current draw.

So look at the fuses actually on the amps if there is more than one fuse total the two. Each 8 gauges needs that total or +5/10 amps

The main fuse by the battery needs to be the total of the 2 where your distro block is again +5/10 amps.

Thanks jd, so if both of my amps have a 40 amp draw, i would be ok with the 100 amp in the main fuse?

Just for future knowledge... is it kind of like as long as you have higher than the amp rating your are safe? Or does to much over causes problems?

The only reason your fusing outside of the amps anymore is to protect yourself from fire. Back in the day amps didn't have their own fuses so then you had to protect them also.

Too much over won't be too bad anymore because your really only protecting yourself from shorts.
