And the Nobel Peace Prize goes to...

You honestly do not think a war monger like Bush would get the peace prize...would you?

War monger.... HA! That's pretty damn funny. Were you calling Clinton a "war monger" when he went into Somalia? I didn't exactly see Mr. Clinton doing much about protecting our own country when we were attacked. Maybe Mr. Clinton could use a lesson or two on the use of force. Mr. Bush could as well though. Fight to win if you are going to fight. Keep the lawyers off the battlefield.

That being said, I wouldn't expect any president to get a peace prize if he was actually doing his job of protecting our country.

The United Nations is so against the Soverignty of the United States that they are against us putting up a border fence. The Nobel organization closely follows the UN.

WTF is up with giving a guy a PEACE prize for "global warming"? The only way Global Warming and Peace are related is if you're talking peace through strength and the instantaneous localized warming to approximately 15,000 degrees F.

With all the efforts around the world by individuals to save innocent people from atrocities or bring awareness, and thus action, to these events there would have been someone more qualified for the "Peace Prize." Clearly a political statement.

Oh, and about the war monger statement... responding to attacks on our nation does not make one a war monger. Nor does continuing to do the right thing despite progress not coming as quickly as we (a group of notably short attention span people) would hope. But that's a topic for another discussion...

On the original subject, it is disappointing to see true peace efforts in places such as Africa or Burma go unrecognized so that a political statement can be made instead.

I do not recall Osama Bin Laden living in Iraq.

Tom

He was living in Iraq while working with Saddam to hide all the WMD's Saddam was going to give him later. We just missed him! :p

It is quite a stretch to think that advocating a highly questionable popular science myth has anything to do with peace. The Nobel Prize seems to have much more to do with attempting to manufacture credibility for a societal point of view more than recognition of any real contribution to the advancement of peace. Such obvious bias just cheapens the Nobel prizes.

Peace for it's own end is of no value. Peace could be easily accomplished by the absolute rule of a global government or monarchy. Freedom, individual self determination, private property rights, capitalism, and an unfettered exchange of information are concepts that must be protected, and are more precious than peace. Those who want to infringe on these rights, even under the guise of protcting our planet, must be challenged.

Almost all scientists studying the climate change data would disagree that this is a myth. For some reason, Republicans turned this into a political debate. Apparently, Conservatives don't believe anything they're told unless it comes out of Bush's mouth.

First of all, I didn't identify myself as a conservative. Or a Republican. That is a label that you seem to have read into my post.

Secondly, you obviously didn't get the point of my earlier post about Chicago being covered by mile-thick glaciers 10,000 years ago. The last glacier which extended into Southen Illinois, receded as a result of a global warming, but it certainly was not a global warming caused by too many people driving SUV's or too many cattle feedlots, as the area had no civilized population at the time. Our earth is a dynamic geogologic planet which has and always will be changing as the inner core cools, the magnetic fields and the poles shift, move and perhaps even reverse polarity, glacial fields cover the earth and then recede, meteors stike the surface, our sun increases and decreases in intensity, mountain ranges appear and erode away, and continental plates continue to move. This has and will continue to happen without any regard to human activity. Taking just a couple of decades or centuries of climatalogical data and making suppositions about it the long-term history and future of our planet from that is certainly highly questionable science.

Third, only those who want to control the behaviour of individuals or businesses by passing laws, regulations, and treaties are politicizing the issue; not those who point out the folly of more laws, regulations, and taxes to address a problem that doesn't exist. Attempting to contol the activities of individuals or societies under the guise of a global warming concern could be construed as inventing a modern-day religion to keep the masses in their humble place. And Saint Gore, annointed with his Nobel Prize from above, shall lead the fearful masses from certain doom and environmental damnation, and into the eternal garden of climatological salvation if only we will follow his commandments. I'm not buying it.

These same scientists can't agree with each other. The UN report is said to be a consensus, but there are problems... several of the scientists featured sued to get their names out of the report. Most of the scientists in the report never met and most disagree with the others in the report.

There are thousands of scientists, meterologists and climatologists who disagree. But they are conviently pushed aside, after all we have consensus.

Consensus is not science. It's politics. Science is about prooving and disprooving theories and hypothesys. Science is doing studies and experimentation. None of which has been done.

Global Warming has been occuring on Mars and Jupiter in recent years as well. I guess Ford exported SUV's to the Martians....

Reality check.... IT'S THE SUN!

Where does the global temperature get generated? Well, besides Al Gore's mouth? Yep, that great big ball of gas that acts like a fusion generator cal Sol or Sun. "Global Warming" proponents magically started showing up shortly after the completeion of the most recent Sun Spot cycle (namely about 8 years ago... also the same time that GWB took office...), coincidence?? I don't think so.
