I was driving down a main city road today and I look down at the clock to check the time for a split-second and I look up and there is this Mercedes SUV just sitting in the road. The driver was aparently waiting to make a left turn to a hotel..a turn there is perfectly legal, however there are no turn lanes. So as soon as I realize I need to stop quickly I press the break hard, but I didn't have enough time to stop completely.

The damage to both vehicles was minimal, but I knew right away that regardless of pretty much any circumstance it was my fault. I feel stupid about it, but all I can do is learn from my mistake and be more careful. It really burns my ass though, because I ALWAYS try to be a careful and attentive driver...figures the one time I slip up I get into an accident.

As far as the damage to my Trac, I'm sure glad I invested in the Westin Safari Bar...it may not look like much but that thing saved me a LOT of front end damage. From the looks of the other vehicle, it appeared that having the bar kept me from causing a lot more damage to it as well. So what I'm left with is a bent up Safari Bar and a crack below the grille.

Does anybody know how to go about fixing a crack in the plastic below the grille? It seems that all I need to do is somehow get behind it and push on it to make it flush. Next step would be some type of adhesive, maybe some light sanding then touch-up paint. What do y'all think?

And if anyone is interested in a bent/dented black Safari Bar (for whatever reason) let me know. You can't really tell it is damaged until you get right up on it and inspect it, but I plan on buying a new one anyway.

Glad your okay!!!

My friend who owns a ST rolled his coming off of I-95. It rolled 3 times. He is in a coma. My other good friend who was riding with him is pretty banged up but doing okay.. I hope this is the last of the accident stories.

Glad your both ok. I am sure your pretty disgusted over the whole thing. There is no easy way to fix a crack in the lower bumper or other plastic parts. One of the easiest and good repairs is to get it plastic welded. They work well. However, you'll need to sand it and then get it painted.

Sorry to hear about that Cory (and you too JK) but glad you're ok. Usually have something on my mind when something like that happens, makes me want to get a bar though. Good luck with everything but I can tell you, if the crack is any size other than minute, touch up paint will be very obvious. From 25 feet away, my quick touch up looks normal, any closer and it becomes really ugly really quick.

Thanks guys.

Teddy, the crack is probably about 3" long, it's from the bar pushing in on the plastic piece. You think that even if I got it flush, and applied color-matched paint and maybe some clearcoat it would still be very obvious?

Sorry about that Cory. Hope they are not too hard on you about it. Oh and the safari bar, do you have any pics? I might want it.
