I did a total restore on my laptop that was heating up. I then took the hard drive and RAM out and put it into another computer, (same style and type).

All was working perfecting for two days.

Now when you turn it on, it says, "Windows is having a problem confirming licensing for this computer". Your ONLY option is to click on OK. So you do and it goes to the login screen which you can not get out of as it goes right back to the license issue....

Any clues???

I can redo it if I can get the CD to go but I have no controls so I m not sure on how to to do that...

Yes it was...

And,,, I am in. I was able to get to the BIOS to get the CD to be the primary drive...

So I an re-re-doing it, hopefully it was/is just a glitch...

Windows has copy protection in it, if too much hardware changes it requires a reinstall.

So by pulling it from one computer and putting it in another all the hardware changed and it freaked out basicly.

Hmmmm,

I took the drive from one to another JUST LIKE IT... I can see some serial number differences but in this case that is the ONLY difference...

I will see what happens after this restore attempt....

Coastie,

You took the drive from another computer ALMOST like the one you put it in. Processors have serial numbers, network cards (or chips on the mobo for the NIC) have Machine Addresses, either or both of these could be used by Microsoft and squirrelled away when you did the installation and activiation on the other PC. Now that you have moved the drive to a new PC they don't match, thus the problem.

I'll agree with that.

It is up and running again. I guess I will see for how long.

If it comes back, what is your suggestion???
