Any DIY Bed Extenders?

I'm amazed at the ingenuity of some of the members in coming up with DIY projects for their STs. I would think that by now someone has devised a good DIY bed extender. Any of you have a line on something like that? I'm thinking that perhaps PVC pipe might work or better, Aluminum conduit bent with a pipe bender. Anyone have a good ideas to share? The cheapskate in me is having a hard time coughing up $300 for one of the standard models.

If you keep an eye on eBay, they go for around $100 + appx $40-$50 for s/h (it can be broken down).

If you do decide to try and make one be sure to make it lock down when you have it out and the tailgate down otherwise a large enough bump could cause your tailgate to bounce off its lower pivot point. Also if you factor what your time is worth it may turn out to be cheaper to buy a factory one like the above posts state.
