Thanks! She is just in the "thinking" stage right now.... You know how women love to drag things out and shop forever before they even think about buying...

They ain't like us- we know what we want and we go buy it.

We bought one in January. My sister in law bought one in Febuary. We live in different states. Ours is the 2.0 ecoboost SE. It's peppier than I exspected. Have around 3000 miles on it now. Broken windshield from flying rocks twice. Milage is good averages 25 mpg not the 33 that ford claims. It'll easily run up to 95 mph and still deliver the 25 mpg. That's pretty amazing to me. My driving is a combination city and highway. The sister in law's is just the basic Escape. I think it's a 1.6 without the ecoboost. She was concerned about the initial cost, set her buget and would not step up for the ecoboost. I would not have considered it with out it. Over all we like the car. As I said it's pretty peppy and to my supprise I haven't felt under powered yet. Only complaint would be the cabin air flow. I feel that it's warmer above my shoulders and my sister in law agrees that she feels the same in hers. When we bought I was going to look at several brands, Honda, Suburooo, Chev ect. Never got past the Ford dealer. Hope this helps. Dave

Hmmm? I've been thinking about replacing my old 2002 Toyota Highlander with a smaller, more fuel efficient SUV like the Ford Escape, Hyundia Tucson, or Honda CRV. All have similar features and fall in the same $22K-$25k price range.

I am concerned that Ford's EcoBoost engine is not getting better than 25 MPG?? I already get 28 MPG on the highway in my 3800 lbs Toyota Highlander V6, 228 HP. The lowest mileage I get is about 22 MPG, but we don't really have much pure "City" driving around here. To pay another $2000 more for the EcoBoost engine and not get better mileage is a real deal breaker for me.

Honda and Hyundai both get 22 city, 31 highway, and my experience with most foreign vehicles is that I can get that kind of mileage, My old Honda and my new Mercedes both get better mileage than the EPA estimates.

I am already starting to lean towards the Honda CRV-LX or EX, as soon as I can find out what the differences are beyond the EX's alloy wheels?

Members of my family were considering upgrading their 2012 Escape (which is barely driveable thanks to its anemic 2.5 L 4-cylinder engine) but if the Ecoboost only ekes out 25 MPG then that could be a dealbreaker; I've gotten as high as 28 MPG driving their 2012 Escape.

I've been thinking about getting the 2.0 Ecoboost fusion to replace my NA 2012 2.5L but I'm somewhat concerned as I'm getting 31-37 MPG with it (EPA estimate is 33 Highway) in mixed driving and I expect to get similar with the Ecoboost. But that Ecoboost is actually listed as getting less MPG than my current car, so if the Escape's 33 becomes 25 in your driving experience then I shudder to think at what the 31 for the Fusion would become.

Well, I ended up Leasing a new Hyundai Tucson GLS. Great deal and there was a special deal for leasing where you only had to pay 2.24% taxes instead of the usual 8.25%. That saved me another $1500. Plus I don't have any Drive away cost except my first months payment. I will close on the deal either today or tomorrow.

I thought I would go with the Honda CR-V but was not overly impressed with the service at the local Honda Dealer. I looked around the parking lot at the CR-V EX's but did not find anything I liked. No salesman approached me until I was about to get in my car an leave. Also their Lease Money Factor was way too high, and they were not giving the full Residual Value.

Hyundai has a much better warranty, no additional fees, and a Money Factor of only 0.0069 which is an interest rate of only 1.65% APR. They are also calculatie the Residual Value after 3 years as 57% which is what is the normal rate posted online.

Honda makes good vehicles, but everything indicates to me that Leasing a Honda is way over priced and will cost you significantly more over the period of the 36 month lease.

I'll post a few photos when I get the new Hyundai
