I live 80 miles from Memphis in Arkansas. I'm in Memphis fairly regularly and have driven across a good portion of TN. It's not that much differnt from Arkansas, Southern Missouri or Mississippi. Mild Winters, summers can be warm (though not sweltering like Texas).

HAve been a SoCal transplant as well as a Missouri transplant, I can safely say that I like the climate. The people are very nice here, but Memphis has a different breed altogether.

For those of you in Memphis... say Hi to King Willy for the rest of the world.

My company has taken to moving our annual meeting around every other year from Memphis. So the wife and I will still take a weekend there when cheap airfare pops up to get our Memphis fix. Oddly, we work for different companies both of which are HQ'd there. Most of the folks at my company's home office live in a suburb called Germantown, which from what I've seen looks real nice.

The Rendezvous is "the" place for tourists to go for BBQ but it's dry and I prefer wet. The waiting room is something else though. I prefer a smaller joint on Beale called the Blues City Cafe, with Corky's a close second. The house band at the Rum Boogie is very good, but there is no bad music on Beale St. although it's gotten more commercialized over the 10 years I've been going there. Elvis used to have a restaurant there but it closed up about two years ago. Too bad, the food was good. I got told it drew an older crowd and by 10:00 it was empty because the old folks were either in bed or at the Tunica casinos. Peabody Place is killer too, with a bunch of new shops and bars. Nice thing is, anything worth seeing except for Graceland you can walk to or take a trolley for $1.

There ya go, you know what I'm talking about!

The wife was down there about a month ago, my cell rings while I'm having lunch at Wendy's.

"Guess where I am?"

"I dunno, where?"

"Blues City, having ribs for lunch."

"(&%^*&@##%^!!!"
