One of the most disrespectful things I've ever heard of, happening right here in my own town...

Sounds to me like speech and a rally meant to incite those that are part of a protected group.

If only the ACLU were not too busy kicking the Boys Scouts off campgrounds they might be able to stop this nutjob.

Ro 6:23 A man pays the wages of any sins he has done at his death. Nosey preachers need to leave Leave the man and his family alone. People do not understand God today. Ministers in the days shortly after Jesus gave his life quietly went from village to village answering interested ones, questions about the messiah's kingdom. Homosexuality is Biblically unacceptable to true Christians 1Co 6:9-11 yet a funeral is NO TIME to preach such a subject. Never should a demonstration be used to press such an issue. God will take care of any issues he has with man when the time for him to do so. He has nothing to do with anyone losing their life in a war or dispute of any kind. Maybe the ductape used on the car on another post would be enough to shut his mouth tightly!!

P.S. Yes I have a gun. Why do you ask?

I live down the road from this a$$wipe in Kansas City. He is mainly a grandstander who does this kind of "shocking" stuff for attention. He is a moron and if he got no attention, he would go away. They should ship him off to a country that would not extend him the freedoms he recieves in the US so he could wise up a little.

The Hawk.

If this Soldier's father doesn't kick the living crap out of that arsehole I would surely hope that that Soldier has a few friends that will be in town for the funeral that would glady pay this so-called minister a visit.

Actually, 2 of the guys I work with went to high school with the soldier, and they will be at the funeral. I wonder if they've heard about this yet.

another example of someone drawing attention to themselves in the name of God, instead of leading others to God by becoming "the least" Someone ELSE laid down His live for others. Maybe this guy should read the entire book, not just the parts that address his insecurities. God doesnt need anybody's help, in only allows those who want to, to participate by prayer. Truely, the guys a jackass to even consider disrespecting a young man, his family and maybe even his God, in this way.

I also live in Kansas City and have a buddy who lives in Topeka that I visit on a regular basis. This idiot (Phelps) has children of the ages 5 or 6 standing out on street corners in Topeka holding signs that say God hates f**s and and worse. It is one of the saddest sights I have ever seen. I am all for freedom of speech, but using innocent children to spread hate is unforgiveable. Like alsuperhawk said, attention is what he craves. Ignore him and he will fade away.

Jeff, I read this in the paper the other day as well...all I can say is that he is a brave soul if he steps down here trying to do that.....

We had a National Guard soldier's funeral about a month ago here (Western Iowa) and there were protestors here from a baptist church in Kansas. So it might be the same guys. Everyone thought they were very rude and disrespectful.:(

The funeral was at the local armory so I guess there are more laws protecting the protestors than if it would have been at a church or private property which kind of ties the hands of the guard officials on keeping the protestors in check and away from the funeral. Sounded like this group of protestors (and probably others) are fairly well known for sueing the government if their protest is doesn't go as planned.

Fortunately, there was a group of veterans that showed up. They took care of keeping the protestors in line so the soldiers could attend the funeral. And the local media and TV stations didn't give them much publicity. However there was one station that apparently couldn't fight the urge to put these guys on TV.

Don't get me wrong - everyone has a right to protest and stand up for what they believe in. However, there is a time and place for it.

This nut isn't worth the price of a bullet. ( I would love to kick the sh*t out of him though)

It is truly sad to see the ignorance people have.

The bible even speaks of those that act like that.

Fortunatly for us, they are the emamples of people we do not want to be like. Religon is a powerful thing. It has caused wars, millions of innocent lives, and ultimatly, they make a mockery of those that are Christ like.

They are doing nothing but fulfilling bible prophecy.

This media whore thinks he's doing the work of God when really he is just proving how ignorant and careless people can be sometimes. Whether someone beats the pants off this guy is yet to be seen (I wouldn't object), but he'l have to answer for his own actions one day for sure.

We received info on similar groups doing similar acts for monetary gain. These groups protest at military funerals chanting some very hateful and nasty things about the deceased soldier during an already emotionally charged time. The object is to get one of the family or friends to attack one of the protestors (in front of the TV cameras), who then in turn sue the family. They then use this money to further their cause (and of course line some pockets in the process). It is really sick and I agree they do need a good arse kicking... but save it until after the funeral when the TV cameras aren't there. A nice GI blanket party might do the trick.

I hope the preacher meets an ungodly fate. He needs to be found face down in a gutter somewhere. I am all for free speach as I fought for it, but this is just uncalled for.

I too have fought for freedom of speech. But, just like our forefathers who wrote Freedom of Speech into law, this is not what it is for. This is also not what I fought for. I can not for the life of me understand how someone can claim freedom of speech and not honor someone who gave them that right. I'll tell you now, If that same group is somehow reading this, DO Not try that shit here in Ohio, you won't make it back home.

This "preacher" brings bad press to christians... I can kinda understand the protest as the Sheppard funeral, as misguided as it was. At least is was related. DEFINATELY UNCALLED FOR, but related. This new protest is completely undignified and unjustified. This is definately not somebody doing God's work.

Hate the sin, love the sinner... including homosexuals (and hyprocrates).
