Rather than make a custom enclosure, I'm thinking about putting the best 8" sub I can find in the factory sub box but I am limited by the actual airspace it was designed to. Anyone ever figure out what that thing provides?

And if so, what sub do you recommend? I'm looking at an 8" Rockford Punch Stage 2 or a Polk MOMO.

Cheers,

Zach

I'm not sure on the air space but I know that my factory sub is a 6". I thought about cutting a bigger hole until I noticed that the front of the factory box was curved. I used C. Wells instructions and built my own box for an 8". Real easy to do and only cost $30 bucks for the material. I'm still waiting for my sub and amp to come on Wednesday but the box is a perfect fit. Just my .02

Yeah Brian , I like that idea better as a 6" wouldn't be enough. Did you have to take out that back paneling?

Can I ask what you ordered too? I'm fine with one 8" but I want it to be the most punch you can get in that size. Thanks man.

I did take out the paneling. Also easy to do. You can find all of that in the member projetcts under audio and electronics. Don't laugh but I went cheap. I bought a Legacy 800W amp (LA568) and a Legacy 800W sub (LPW899) from Teptronics. Both say they'll run 400W RMS. The sub was 15.99 and the amp was 61.99. I haven't heard it yet but I'm sure it'll be ok for what I need.

I like what Rich Stern did in the projects thread, but did he make that box? He references the C. Wells name but it looks like he's covered it with something else, like a rubber material.

Zach, The Cwells boxes are made by a member JD boxes....

Look in my projects about installing the dual 8 box I did..
