Anybody been a part of an April Fools joke that went awry?

Some years ago as a young and rambunctious cop I was assigned traffic control at a major intersection. My partner and I decided it would be great entertainment to wear high quality rubber pig masks while we directed traffic. This went over very well with all the passing motorists and got lots of cheers and high 5's.

About 2 hours into our show a car pulled alongside me and the passenger rolled down his window. He asked me if I thought this was appropriate. I gave some glib remark to which he said "Constable, and I call you that doubtfully, don't you know who I am" I said "No, don't you know who you am" and continued my traffic control. I still thought this was quite funny until he pulled out his gold shield and it read in big bold letters......

DEPUTY CHIEF OF POLICE

I spent the next two weeks helping kids cross the street.

I told my fiance today that I quit my job. Apparently not funny.

Somebody thought it would be funny to put a "For Sale" sign on the high school I went to when I was a senior. It got a good laugh that morning. However, someone thought it would be even funnier to put the sign on a teacher's car, and they did...on our home room teacher's car. That teacher was also the home ec teacher, and she got a little unhinged by the whole incident. She had a nervous breakdown from it, quoting that it wasn't a prank, but "destruction of her personal property" (yes, placing a SIGN on the windshielf of her car). She freaked, whipped herself into a frenzy, and had a few days off as she collected herself...like I said, a breakdown.

TJR, sounds like it was only a matter of time before she snapped. I remember the home ec. teacher in my high school wasn't completely there either, she kept a stock cabinet of Jack Daniels and Bourbon in her room. No one was supposed to know about it but everyone did. :haveabeer:

Mine too.

That's probably because of the truth behind the saying, "Those who can't do, teach."

How embarrassing a life that must me.

Years ago when at work. My wife went to my job. Put for sale signs on my 'stang, for $2000. When I got off work. I had a swarm of folks, at the gate waiting on me.

I didnt know what was up until I got to my 'stang. She wrote on the back side of the signs, April fool. Sure had some diapointed people..LOL
