Well if your Trac is like the project one, and you have the Caliper Mounting Bracket you will just need to replace it.

I replaced mine on my old Thunderbird, and it is set up the same way. I purchased mine from the Advanced Auto Parts website for around $26 for the T-bird.

Once you get it, there are more than likely, just two bolts holding it in place on the side closest to the engine. Remove the caliper from the rotor. Remove those bolts, and remove that Bracket. While you have the bracket off you can now replace the rotor itself. Replace with the new parts and just reinstall the caliper the way you did before.

It's actually pretty easy once you get the part and see what all needs done. The only thing that make give you problems are stuborn bolts. Spray some P.B.Blaster on the bolts and let them sit abit.

STylin,

The caliper pins and slide points must be lubricated with a special high-temp brake grease. That's why the pins are rusted and your caliper is dragging.

Remove the pins, clean the rust off and lube them with brake grease. Also, lube the caliper mounting frames where the caliper and pads slide.

Yeah, I found that out, Richard. The service tech said they are supposed to be checked and greased every 15K! I've never heard that, but I didn't double check my book to find out.

Like I said, I can't break the pin free. Even if I did, I think it's too far rusted to save anymore. And it's just one, not both. The top one is fine.

If I AM able to break it free though, should I be able to buty only the slide?
