Tony;

You appear to be very knowledgeable in the audio area, I have some questions that maybe you can answer. Does the OEM Pioneer 6 disc unit have enough power to add 2 1" TWEETERS. What are the differences between tweeter design, I mean ebay has 1" tweeters with built in cross overs for 99cents or tweeters for $100.00. I know they are different but how and why. I would like to add the tweeters but do not want add another amp. Last question in many of the projects new speaker wires are always run when the speakers are changed out, why are the OEM wires not used?

thanks in advance.

Ivan,

let me start by saying that you are correct i have been a professional audio video and security installer for 8 years. i now work for a manufacturer designing aftermarket integration pieces.

there are alot of differiences in the make and overall integrity of a tweeter. wattage rating and size of the magnet on the back of any speaker are a tell of if they are going to perform well next you want to look at the material that the cone is made of. alot of people are going with a kevlar based speaker or a Aluminum Coated Polypropylene cone due to all the water that hits the speaker, being it is in the door, and as we all know water does get in the door.

the best structure i have seen and this is MO is the Silk Soft Dome Tweeter it is alot crisper and it does not take a whole lot of power to move the cone on this speaker but is in no way water resistant. adding tweeters is a failry easy task due to the fact the adding tweeters does not change the ohm load of the over all audio circuit. they use a completely differient frequency.

the reason people want to run new wires into the door is for power or wattage reasons. speaker wire, as any wire does, has a wattage/amperage rating depending on the AWG of the wire. i normally run the wire from my amps up behind the radio and solder those wires to the factory wires. the factory wires are good normally to about 100 to 125 watts.

so to answer your question you will not need to add another amp just simply splice the existing wires with the new tweeter wires and mount in desired location.

IMO - i would not buy a 99 cent set of tweeters. i would stick with a brand that you know. i am a big fan of "MMatts Pro Audio" "Memphis Car Audio" "JL Audio" and "Alpine" everyone has their favorite but after installing just about every kind, i know those handle abuse and will be around for the long haul.

Tony, I'm at wit's end on trying to incorporate satellite radio into my new 07 ST. I have the 6CD/MP3 Audophile radio with the amp. I bought the ST Limited "off the lot" with everything except the satellite radio. It appears to be the exact same radio as the ones that have satellite radio and they even use the AUX button to access the satellite radio. I am trying to find a wring harness that fits this "new" CAN/BUS radio that will allow me to plug in a Terk or some other satellite radio module so that I can put it behind the dash and use the radio controls (steering whell and radio) using the AUX buitton on the radio.

My questions

1. Is there such a harness available that actually works with this radio and

2. If there is, where would I get one?

I was told that the harness sold by Crutchfield WILL NOT work even though it plugs in. Pat Freeman tried it and it would go to the satellite for a few seconds when AUX is pushed and then revert back to radio.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's the one accessory I really want and I seem to be stopped at every turn. Of course the salesman and parts guy at the dealership told me "not to worry, they could order me one." Then after the sale, they seem to have lost some memory brain cells on that issue.

unfortunately the only piece i know about is the Aux/iPod Interface. we offer a piece that will do full text display and controls through the radio. that is accessed by pushing the AUX button. we emmulate the SAT tuner and then our text and audio are piped in. and our aux input only allows for audio to be input. i know exactually what your asking for but at the sime time i do not know of a piece. let me call some of my customers and see what i can find out. ill let you know shortly. did you contact DEI for the sirius tuner? did they not have anything?
