Eddie- This came up recently regarding SW replacement using the OEM amplifier.

Believe it's more of an impedance, or load issue, not RMS power handling.

More clean power is better than an underpowered "clipping" amp that fries voice coils.

Distortion causes thermal damage to speakers, aka blown.

Hopefully JDBoxes will chime in, again.

FYI, the first enclosure in the pics contain JL Audio drivers, not JBL's.

For years their acronym has been Junk But Loud, for their consumer product. (aka- James B. Lansing)

Please don't ask what BOSE stands for. (Four letter words) LOL

Thanks steve,

I was wanting a small amount more thump. Wondering if the factory amp would match the larger adrenlin speaker. Im not realy wanting to make a major change, in wiring and amps.

BTW, Im enjoying the tunes....

I'm not familiar with the OEM sub systems at all.. I assume like everyone else has said that it could be done, but more than likely isn't just plug it in and go. So without looking at all the components I'd guess it wouldn't be worth the effort to make it work since for less effort you could have more.

JD- Still have these ADS 300i plate speakers from my '79 Ranchero.

Any possibility of mounting in the front doors without butchering?

You know that I wasn't even born yet right :bwahaha:

From what I found though it looks like they are 8.5" x 5.75" (approx) which means unlikely to fit without cutting. The other reason I feel it won't work without cutting is there was an optional accessory for 6x9 mounting plate. So it shouldn't take a lot of cutting, but I'm pretty sure some would be required. Only one way to be sure though, so get at it :haveabeer:
