Normal audio questions usually go by the wayside and probably for very good reasons. I would really appreciate some good counsel with regard to my question. If I could purchase the Nav/Radio/Sirrus that was installed in a 2008 F-150 Limited, could it be installed in my 08 ST limited and all features, speakers, steering wheel controls and Sync work? I will make answering easy, pick an option and hopefully that will lead me down the right path. The goal is for in dash Nav.

A: Sorry Russ, will not work, no way no how.

B: Yes, but requires expensive modifications and some features may not work

C: Your better off with after market, and you still will lose functions

I apprecaite anyone who provides technically wise counsel to my question. An in dash NAV/DVD systems is what I really wish I had upgraded at the time of purchase. Ford dude selling me the ST said it would not work my truck for the standard issue Nav Ford had a year ago. The systems I saw in the 08 F150 Limited was just incredible.

Thanks again Sport Trac members. This the most pleasant and helpful forum i visit on stuff I am interested in..

You can do it and still have full functionality but not with SYNC, AFAIK you can't get NAV and SYNC together because there is some sort of issue with the 2 working together.

All you have to do when the switch is made is have the programming changed to recognize the type of vehicle and the installed options with a FORD IDS scanner (I have one) but like I said I am pretty sure there is no SYNC with NAV

I think that this was resolved for the 2009 model year. When we were at the Louisville meet in June, the Ford reps were really talking up the forthcoming 2009 models with the second generation Nav system and Sync. The way I understood it was that both features would be available together.

I wonder if it was just a software issue that could be reprogrammed or if it is a different SYNC module alltogether or if the issue was in the head unit.
