Does this bug anyone else?

You have a passenger to pick up that is standing outside the garage. You move the trac only a few feet in reverse. You put the Trac in park, you know to be safe while a passenger gets in. After putting the Trac in park, you let off the brake pedal, the Trac rolls an inch or two and CLICK all the doors lock.

Guess I am puzzled why you can move 10-12 feet in reverse and the doors do not lock, but put it in park and roll just a little bit in reverse and the doors lock.

I believe the autolock can be disabled. I did it with an Expedition. Can't remember what I did.

Found this from a pevious post:

To deactivate/reactivate the autolock feature using the keypad:

Your vehicle comes with the autolock feature activated. To

deactivate/reactivate this feature:

1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.

2. Close all the doors.

3. Enter the 5-digit entry code.

4. Press and hold the 3•4. While holding the 3•4 press the 7•8.

5. Release the 3•4.

6. Release the 7•8.

The horn will chirp once when the system has been successfully deactivated.

I understand what he is saying. I like the auto lock feature also. BUT, I hate the way it works. Seems like it should not lock the doors until you reach a certain speed. (like 25 mph)

Oh I see, then maybe it's a Safety feature that is designed to lock if it senses the vehicle rolling backwards but the gear selector is not in Reverse. Let's say someone thought they put the tranny in Park but did not and goes to get out of the vehicle and it starts to roll backwards as they are exiting the vehicle. The vehicle senses the vehicle rolling backwards and in turn locks to keep you from getting hurt. That actually happened to my aunt in her Lincoln Town Car (older model) and the door hit her as the car started to roll.

Not sure about the Gen 1 models, but hte 07 does not lock until you reach ~12mph.

And I have the 07, which ONLY autolocks at ~12 mph, which I do not like. I would prefer to have it autolock much quicker, like my Explorer did, which I think was in gear and then depress the brake pedal.

Can't please everyone.... wish this thing had a computer....

I tried to get the auto lock turned off. Did the sequence in the booklet. I have tried it many times on different days, at different temps, spring and summer, and under the full moon. But it wont work... I dont know why, and I would like it off.
