I was messing with my aux fog lights that I have wired for '2005 fogs with brights' and I got a spark (shorted). The factory fogs and my aux fogs no longer work. I checked all fuses and all are good. I think I may have blown the relay since that's what my aux fogs are wired to. How do I check a relay for being blown?

You'll need an ohm meter, and some jumper wires. Resistance from terminal 3 to 5 should be open (inifinite resitance) when the relay is open, and zero ohms (or very close to 0) when the realy is closed.

To close the relay, you'd apply 12V to terminal 1, and ground to 2, or possibly vice versa.

with the motor off and hood up...

put the relay back in place

turn the switch for the fog lights OFF

turn the parking lights or driving lights ON

turn the fog light switch/button ON and listen for a click...if you hear a click it is good, if not it is bad

that's what i have always done, just my 2 cents:blink:

Mike, The relay can click showing the coil is good, BUT the contact inside the relay can be burnt up or have build up on it and not complete the circuit..

A $7.00 Test light is your best friend !!
