Anyone hook up a avid-d3 system in a 07. I am having trouble locating the illumination wire that serves as the unit dimmer. The adapter harness from Crutchfield has the wire but it matches up with a blank space in the stocvk harness. Crutchfield recommended running a wire from the headlights, bu I don't think that's a good idea.

I do not know the color (I have an 04). However, it will be hot when the parking lights or headlights are on, since they trigger the interior illumination.

Thanks. Found out from avic411.com that ford now has an electric signal that triggers the stock radio. The suggested tapping into a blue/white line inside the harness by the driver.

I heard if you plug the illumination wire into that empty slot on the stock harness it allows you to watch video while driving. I know it is for one of the pioneer d series

If you ground the open slot, yeah, it should allow you to bypass the parking break limitations.

Each manufacturer has its way around certain protections. Pioneer's a little bit more stubborn (glance at avic411.com and how hard the folks worked to bypass the Z2) than others.
