Awesome pics. Hey for the fun of it anyone want to take a stab at what land mass we are looking it in picture #2 (meaning what part of the earth is in the background there.

Those are great pictures. I know it sounds typical but I always wanted to be an astronaut as a kid. Oh well, I became a pilot so i got half way there! haha

The land masses are too close together to be Australia and New Zealand. However, I think you're on to something with the New Zealand part. I went to Google Maps, and zoomed in to the space between the two main islands of New Zealand (near Wellington), and it looks a lot like Lake Wairarapa, just to the right of the antenna boom (upper-right corner of the picture), inland from the coastline.
