Just curious if anyone has installed bamboo flooring in their home.

COSTCO has some at decent price. Flooring only , not the trim pieces. I would like to install soem but not sure about it.

We had bamboo installed last year. It is harder then oak but dosent have the grain like oak. Its a very smooth finish so it does mark easily. We have a dog and his nails have put marks in the floor. At first I was sick about it, but now that the whole floor is wearing it adds to the chracter of the floor. I really like the look, we went with the caramel color. Since the bamboo is so hard you will need very sharp blades. I would use it again.

My boss just had natural-colored bamboo flooring installed. From the pics, it looks nice. Since it's just her and a young son in the house, I don't think theirs gets a lot of traffic or wear-and-tear.

And, if it matters to you, bamboo is supposed to be more "green" - as it comes from a more renewable and sustainable resource than other hardwoods.

I don't know about bamboo, but isn't a lot of hardwood flooring coming with a scratch-resistant clear coat (like aluminum-oxide) on it now?

Bamboo is more brittle then regular hardwood and from what I understand can tend to shatter if you drop something heavy on it.
