Its definitly worth it you can fit two kegs in there laying on their side and close the tailgate no straps or tying down needed that is if you need that much beer. I wonder if the engineers too that into account when they made it? Cause they just fit. I also use it alot when I take my MTN bikes places, they fit in there perfectly with it in the extended position.

I have used mine 3 times in 4 years, it hangs on the wall most of the time. but I cant part with it as its been handy when I did need it.

I picked mine up off another member last fall. I love it.. I don't use it a whole lot, but it's always in the bed folded away for when i do need it. That's about what i paid, so you may want to grab it at that price.. i'm sure someone else would take it for that.

I have to ditto most on here. I can't imagine NOT having it. I use it all the time. I have 2 folding tables that when I put them in, they just slide down to just under the top of the extender. No way they will slip out. The past few days, I've hauled 15 bags of mulch with the toneau on and the extender out, and not have to worry about them falling out. I even used it when I hauled 15' sections of Soffet when I did the outside of my house. Had one end resting on the inside of the extender, and the rest out over the cab tied down. That was a site.:D;)

I have owned three Tracs. I will NEVER own a Trac, or any other truck for that matter, without the extender. Once you have, you will use it many many times.

Closed it acts like a bed divider which is great to lean things against and what not.

I will never own another truck, full-sized bed or not, without an extender. It is so nice to have the extra space when I need it and it rocks having something to keep everything near the tailgate when I don't.

I bought my truck with the extender and have been very happy with it. Not only is it good for adding additional cargo space but it works well at keeping things close to the tail gate for easy access when it is stored in the bed with the tail gate up. Also, it is very easy to install or remove just two clips hold it in place.

I have only used mine 3 or 4 times since I got the ST a year ago. Most of the time it just hangs in the basement but the few times I needed it I'm glad I had it.

I'll sell you mine...It's brand new !!! My 2003 Sport Trac had the bed extender in it when I bought it new back in 2003, but it did not stay there for long. I took it out as soon as I got home from the dealer and it has never been back in the truck. It just takes up space in my garage...along with a lot of other worthless junk.

I have the hard tonneau cover and use my bed as more of a large trunk for luggage rather than as a truck bed. Some people use the cargo cage as a bed divider, however I have a large 3 pocket cargo net in the back half of my bed, and combinded with the bed mat, serves to keep groceries or other small cargo from sliding or rolling around.

Joseymack - Why would it help with 8 ft material? Since th bed is 4 ft long, and the tailgate is another 2 ft, having the bed extender on it actually shortens the total bed space by a few inches. Does the extender rest on top on 8 ft ladders or wood etc to help hold it in? Or do you just lean it from the front of the bed on top of the bed extender and then bungie it to the extender? Can you haul a 4x8 sheet by resting the back half of the sheet on the extender or is it way too high?

Sorry for all of the questions. I'm just curious since I may be getting a bed extender.

I've hauled 4x8' sheets of plywood with my extender out. Makes pretty good. The bumper pads keep the stuff level and it gives a place to ratchet strap things to. Since I live 4+ hours from the parents and in-laws with 2 kids now, it sure makes the Christmas haul a breeze. Do I use it everyday? No. It's spent 50% of it's life hanging from bike hooks in the ceiling of the garage.

It's indespensible when I need it.

An advantage to having it is if you need to haul dirt or mulch, etc. Throw a tarp in the bed and you have a fully-enclosed box.

ST + Bed Extender + Tonneau + electric rear window = Haul Anything You Want (within reason)...

David exactly what R Shek said. It helps keep plywood and lumber all tilted in and downwards towards the cab eliminating need to bungie and strap. Yes you can rest 4x8's ontop of the extender and it works well as it tends to sit ontop of the wheelwell
