I'm needing to get some replacement locking pins for my OEM bed extender. Searching this board, I found a post from Todd Z indicating that,

LOCKING PINS

OLD FORD NUMBER

1L5Z-99286B26-AA

NEW FORD NUMBER

1L3Z-84286B26-AA

Question--Did they just change the part number, or did they also change the design and/or quality?

Torrie (site sponsor) has the best price I can find on the new number (which is still more than a whopping $53 per pin!), but doesn't have the old one. I've found a couple locations online which have the old one, for under $20.

If they're all the same, just a new part number, I'm going to need to go with the old, less expensive one. But if the new one is of a sturdier design or something like that, and therefore won't break as easily, I may have to bite the bullet and pay the higher price. Anyone know if there's any real difference?

Thanks!

Bill

Unfortunately, when Ford changes the part number, they don't usually tell us why. It could be a design change, a supplier change, or they realized that the two parts were functionally the same and kept the more expensive one. I wish I had either one to look at myself.

I just traded in my ST. I kept the billet tiedown covers and the bed extender. The bed extender has a broken mounting point on one side and is missing 1 locking pin. I did keep the sriker looking mounts that go into the bed. I planned to part it out. it has a few good parts left on it.

Bill,

Did you ever get replacement pins? If so, which part number did you use, and did it include the nut that holds the pin assembly in the extender?

One of mine recently broke, and I need a replacement.
