bed extender

i found a bed extender in orange park, the guys wants $50.00 for it looks good in the pics but it dose not come with the hardware is that a good price and how much would the hardware cost me?

That is half of what I paid for my used one I think from a fellow member here. I bought hardware for I think $10 from another member as well. I'd buy it and someone here may have some hardware for you. I'm not sure how much new hardware is.

Generally, Aren't the only things you would need besides the extender itself, be the pins it mounts and pivots on?

Yup all you should need is the two pins. BTW thats an amazing price! I paid $80 CDN for mine but then had to pay another 23 bucks for the pins at the dealership.:angry:

All you will need is the pins and they are cheap. something like 12 bucks from a dealer.

I don't think I've ever seen the used ones for sale with the pins. Even if its $25 for the pins from a dealer you're only looking at $75 total. Most I've seen sell for $100 at least so you'd still be getting a great deal.

All you will need is the pins and they are cheap.

And the right size Torx bit to install them. Folks who have done so have said that installation is a bitch, because the bolts are self-tapping, torquing them to cut the holes is tough.

Turn in 3/4 of a turn and back 1/4 will make it easier. It cuts the thread then snaps of the thread you just cut.



Takes a bit longer, but works well.

A bit of anti-seize works wonders too. No, they won't work themselves back out. These things are tighter than a ....... you know what!

Can anyone tell me if the 2001-2005 bed extender will fit or can be modified to fit a 2010 Sport Trac... these things are impossible to find at a reasonable price! I've tried craigslist in every city in every direction for 300 miles! I can find the ones that fit the 01-05 all day.. but nothing for the newer Sport Trac..



Does anyone own a "universal" fit bed extender?



Any other suggestions or ideas?



New to Sport Trac ownership... so any help is appreciated greatly.
