I just had the Alpine IVA-W200 installed in my 07 Trac, I love the backup camera and now I'm thinking about adding the Bluetooth adaptor.

What phone do I need to use this capability? Just any phone that’s Bluetooth capable?

How will it work with the Alpine head unit? Will there be wires or anything or does it just recognize the phone on its own?

Sorry about all the questions but I am from the old school and all this new fangled equipment confuses me sometimes.

Thanks in advance for any advise you can offer.

Jacque

Any bluetooth phone should work. No wires. You will have to "pair" the devices. Look in your manual for the bluetooth adapter and phone and you will see how to pair them.

To old school people, Bluetooth is magic. :)

Hey there... might want to check out the bluetooth adaptors from Parrot... Crutchfield sells them...

As I've said in several previous posts;

"Star Trek (Trac?) is Here!!!"

And now we have "Star Trac...The Next Generation"!!!

Gene and James are lookin' out for us "Trekkies/Traccies"!

:DHave a Parrot Bluetooth kit in my new '07 Trac and I love it. The other party can hear me clear as day and the fact it plays through the radio is GREAT. This company sells the kit and the harnesses that allow you to wire it in with no cutting or anything. Just unplug your radio, plug in the t-harness, and plug the radio into the harness. It worked AWESOME for me. You can find the Parrot kits cheaper elsewhere online, but these adapters are the BOMB!

Jeff,

That sounds like a great setup.. When your phone rings does the radio or CD player stop playing music? And does the ring tone come through the speakers as well?

Yes, I have the Audiophile radio from Ford and it displays PHONE and mutes. The volume for the phone is controlled through the radio and it rings through the radio too. The kit is set-up to play through the rear speakers to avoid feedback and I located the small mike to the left of the rearview mirror clipped to the headliner. Ran the wire to it by tucking it along the windows edge and molding. Works great!

Thanks for the input - I don't use my cell phone all that much - usually less than 100 minutes per month, but this is just too cool to pass up :)

One of my pet peeves is the folks who travel down the road with a cell glued to one ear. I think before long most states will be passing laws that all cell must be operated hands free while driving. For once I will be ahead of the curve.

Thanks again, Jacque

Thumperjb, I really don't see the difference between using the cell or the handsfree. In both situations you are distracted by the actually conversation, that is what causes the accidents.
