As for the covering for the 2x4's, Home Depot and Lowes, or any carpet store for that matter, should have remnant pieces you can buy for a cheap price.

They are not allowed to sell the old treated lumber here in NY any more...
ONLY the new stuff, which Attacks aluminum, so be careful if you ever use it for a sill plate, you must use a copper flashing now..

Yeah, I found out last night that Lowe's and Home Depot do not sell the old stuff here in Louisiana anymore. I just got the pressure treated lumber. I also found out that Lowe's does not carry Stainless Steel Staples, but Home Depot does. The only problem is that they sell them in boxes of 5000 for 199.99 or a box of 1000 for 69.99. It sucks because I will probably only use about 100 of them and I will probably never use them again. Oh well. I was also a little dissapointed with the selection of outdoor carpet at both places, but settled on some.
After running to all of the stores, I only had time to cut the carpet, but not to put it on the wood. I will let you know how that goes tonight.
