Pretty fitting if you ask me. I still think a wood chipper was a good option. Nothing historic about the ball or player. I think he'll eventually be an outcast like Pete Rose.

I agree Nelson. Except for the "nothing historic" part. It is still a "historic" part of baseball and in my opinion, should be in the museum. I like the "*" being put on the actual ball before it gets there. I don't agree with ruining the ball just because of the story surrounding it. The story around it, makes the ball "historic". People will still appreciate seeing the controversal ball that was hit to break a record. Even if it was hit by the steroid pumping Bonds.:D

he still broke the record whether you like it or not. If you are so niave that you think he is the only one then you have your head in the clouds. If you want to put a * beside every record set by an athlete that might have been on steroids then you should put one in fromt of every record in every sport set since 1979 (when steroids were first discovered in the athletic mainstream).

I'm okay with it. The HOF will probably just turn the * to the back anyway when they display it.

Barry started his career here in Pittsburgh, once when the Giants came to play someone was holding a banner up that said "Pittsburgh Pirates -- drug-free since 1992".

Actually that works on a number of fronts because while Barry's last season here was 1992, that was also the last time the Pirates had a winning record.
