Osama Bin Laden lived in Afghanistan. Bush HAD to go into Afghanistan. If he didn't, he would not have ever been re-elected.

Correct. But it was the right thing to do. However if Afghanistan DID have oil, for many people that would be the reason Bush sent troops in. Funny, no one mentions anything about protecting the heroin industry. :lol:

I'm a Republican, but I was all in favor of Clinton sending troops to Bosnia, again because it was the right thing to do (IMO).

Just that for much of the Left, the idea that someone might profit from something trumps any other reason(s) for doing it. Profit is evil, oil companies are evil, therefore taking out a dictator who tortures and kills his own people is also a bad thing if his country has oil. I'm still waiting for that Iraqi oil to drive the price down.

If we had enough of them, I'd send troops to Sudan too. That situation goes to show how useless the UN is. Type of thing that ought to be their job.

I do agree, it was the right thing to do.



Iraqi oil will not bring the prices down. Ultimatly, it will help keep the US dollar the standard currency used to trade oil.

Heather, I understand venting -- that's cool.



Bill V, I will concede that, Yes, the President probably does make money from oil industries. When I first read Heather's note, I took it to mean that she felt he was getting more money trhough the government -- ie., through taxes. Reading it again, I may have reached a little.



And absolutely if a oil-poor country is hosting Al Queda and Bin Laden, I think Bush would go in. If they're in Antartica, I think he would go. And I would support it every step of the way. (Clinton was right to go into Bosnia too)
