I just got a new bread maker- a Breadman brand. I am going to make Focaccia dough and the recipe calls for 1/4 cup of garlic for the topping. Does this sound right? I expected one or two tablespoons but 1/4 cup? Any opini0ns?

Garlic becomes a different beast whne it is baked. Not as harsh as you might think. How does it say to prepare the garlic?? Is is chopped or sliced??

A1cntrle is right. It will dry out and not be that strong. I would finely slice it. One of our favorite restaurants serves it that way and man is it good.

Just like a garlic or onion bagel. The garlic will dry and crisp up. Some of the flavor will absorb into the crust as well. Very tasty.

Making me hungry for a nicely toasted everything bagel.

If you look closely in the produce section of your local store, they sell garlic already minced up. I think that it says that 1 tsb is equal to a clove... We love garlic, and when I am being lazy I use this stuff in cooking. I do use the fresh stuff mostly though. If you have a Trader Joe's around there, they sell garlic that you keep in the freezer. It is in little cubes similar to what a pack of Eclipse Gum comes in, only bigger. Pop one or two out and you're good to go. But I have gone off of the intent of this post now.. How did it turn out??

lol... is 1/4 enough!!!

When I make my Garlic bread I use about 1/2 cup per side of pre-crushed Garlic

if it was fresh garlic maybe 3-4 large cloves... mmmm I am getting hungry!!

Where is the parmesan Regionno?

bread turned out great- absolutely mouth watering. Drizzled some olive oil and black pepper on it and WOW! Garlic was fine, not strong at all. And yes, there was lots of Parmesan. Thanks for all the answers.:D
