The cheapest I could find one for was $245 including shipping from Best in Auto on Ebay.

They list them for $307 with a best offer option.

Hey, I just bought one from a company called Crutchfield, on line. It was a K&N #77-2573P, Polished unit, and it was listed at a discount price in the scratch and dent section. Got it for $291.48 shipping and all. It had one little scratch on the back side of the main tube, not noticeable. I bought it for my 09 Adrenalin, but it is cataloged for 05 to 07 V8. It still fit perfectly. Crutchfields Part # was 513772573P. Their sight is ,www.crutchfield.com hope this is helpful.:smile0006:

YOu cant build one in 15 minuets or for $50 with the material these are built out of. Yea you may crap one together and call IT A it A CAI, but I would rather spend the money and get one that actually works. Heck I could just get a piece of dryer hose and run it thru the hood and call it a CAI and that wouldnt cost me anything, but i have more pride in my ride than that!!!!:smile0008:

I doubt very seriously that the parts were less than $50 and it was all engineered in 15 minuets. If that's the case, you need to be in the business and be selling them to the public, and you'll be a millionaire in less than a month! Plus if that picture is of your Trac, It says in your profile that that is a K&N kit for a 94 Stang, so which is it. Did you engineer it yourself from store bought parts or is it a K&N kit?? Just curious, I've also been building cars for the street and track for over 40 years and very little of anything can be had for less than $50 or done in 15 minuets.

I just finished my intake a few weeks ago, so here's my 2 . . . .

Minus my airbox and maf modifications, the setup pictured in the link that Fast Eddie posted, took me between 15-20 minutes to install and cost me $60 in parts.

Obviously MAF & filter modifications will add to the cost.

Honestly though, considering the fact that the stock air intake is just behind the grille, keeping the airbox is a better option than eliminating it . . . so "crapping one together" :smile0014: (between the MAF and the TB) is a better CAI option than spending $200 to $300+ just to suck hot engine bay air through the intake with a K&N setup.

I have enough extra aluminum tube from my own build if anyone wants to make their own. I made it for about $60 but it took me about 30 minutes. It took me a little longer because I had to get a larger drill bit to drill the vacuum tee hole.

I'll sell it with shipping for $20.

SO, what you all are saying is that K&N and Zab-tach and all these other companies that are offering the CAI kits , and their research & engineering & dyno results that back up their claims of increased hp and performance are all total bogus?? If you guys are getting the same results as they are claiming, for $50 and 15 minutes, WHY arent you producing them and offering them for , say $100, and making a killing??? Just curious.

That's exactly what Doug was selling through Zabteck.

It cost him around $50-$60 to make and sold for $130.

However, their primary market is this site (and a few others) and Zabteck discontinued the product due to the lack of demand.

i don't recall if the kit had silicone or rubber connector and elbow. the silicone can be quite a bit more expensive than the rubber ones. the $60 mentioned above is for rubber.

don't forget the time to cut the pipes, put the kit parts together, package it up and ship it. you will also have to deal with potential returns. i can see it being a pain and perhaps not as big of a money maker as you might think.

Not rattleing cages, just dont want everybody thinking they can build something for $50 dollars that wont do what the kits that K&N and other suppliers sell. I went to a parts store and priced out the parts that can be bought to build a kit and it ran $135.70, just parts, and that was not a polished metal tube with capabilities to accept the MAF.AND, I get a discount from the NAPA store and am tax exempt.
