I would like to buy a nice camper trailer to tow behind my Sport Trac.

Can yall give me some input on what yall are towing as far as weights and trailers?

Appreciate the input.

Been looking into Hybrid Trailers.:supercool:

Someday I'll either build one of these trailers or buy one but these are perfect for the ST. You can take these anywhere and they're compact so you don't have a big camper killing your mpg's bt being a big parachute.

:driving::banana:

i pull a pop up with an atv i have added trailer brakes although i do have plans of a larger tranny cooler just for added assurance

the book says 3500 # FOR MY V6

I'd say upgrade the tranny cooler, install electric trailer brakes and either load leveling or air shocks in the rear and you're set to tow 4K lbs fairly well.

Personally, with the factory trailering package (came with aux tranny cooler and 4.10 gears) I've towed several trailers ranging from only 1000 lbs to 6500lbs with Monroe air shocks in the rear to level out my load and It did fine except with the 6500 lbs boat. She struggled a little with that but thats a given and I had no other choice at the time.

This is a picture of it leveled out back when I was stock using the Monroe max-airs just as a reference. Also, I would suggest looking into a weight distributing hitch to put some weight on the front tires so the truck isn't squirrelly.

I pull a 22' 1998 Aerolite camper. Weighted on a scale, ready for a weeks camping, it weighs 3800lb. You know it's there, but it pulls fine. My ST is rated to tow ~5000lbs as it came from the factory.

I have installed an additional tranny cooler, as I have a ScanGuageII, and have watched what happened without it. The additional cooler made a big difference.

Figure on 8-10mpg while towing, and OD is probably not an option if you are in any hills at all.

A weight-distributing, anti sway hitch is also probably needed. You will also a brake controller and a 7-pin connector to run the electric brakes.
