Can a Gen 1 bed extender work on a Gen 2?

I have a 2007 with the factory tonneau cover. I have been looking without success for a bed extender for a 2007+. I have been told that the Gen 1 bed extender will work on my 2007 and have seen many Gen 1 bed extenders on Craigslist.



Have any of you tried the Gen 1 extender on a 2007+? I don't doubt it will fit and swivel on the pins but will it clear the tonneau cover like it is supposed to with the rear half opened?

Yes, I picked up one from an 02 on Craig's list for $20.



It works fine.

Some have tried and said no. Gen 1 and Gen 2 , not intergangable...

There are a ton of bed extenders on eBay for around $80 to $100. Shipping is what kills you..

I have my 03 extender sitting in my shed...... I probably could take it appart and get it in a box to ship cheeply.......



I just have not thought about selling it..

I have looked on craigslist too and there are a bunch there that seem cheaper than on ebay. I would look there and it could save you the shipping costs.

You know what, I take that back. I just searched for one on ebay and found it for less than $100 with about $30 S&H.

It's not OEM but they are there too.

They definetely work. I have one on my 2009. The rubber bumpers are a little off but they work just fine.
