I was thinking about doing some clear corners on the headlights on my Trac. Anyone have some pictures?

How easy is it to install them, and are the ones I see on ebay for about $40 crap, or are they all that I need?

they are not illegal if you are running an amber bulb or like mine (silverstars )they are a bluish when off and amber when on. They look good too. I bought mine off of ebay about three years ago for around $20 shipped and havent had a problem yet. If i remember right there is only 1 screw under the plastic cover under the hood then the pins that line them up all you do is pull strait at you and your done 5 minutes max.

Not sure about legality, but here in the south, never been pulled over or even had them mentioned about. Did what R.C. did and put silverstars in for replacements.

I live in Florida and I've seen LOTS of cars with clear corners, so I don't think it will be a legal issue hopefully.

where can I pick up the silverstars at?

i have clear corners with blue bulbs... cops dont seem to mind because they work

i will be getting rid of mine as soon as i get my black set to finish off the exterior

Sylvania Silverstar Ultras (BP 9007SU BP) at Amazon for $31.26 w/ free S/S Shipping. (Including $10 mail in rebate) No regrets, particularly the wider angle they project.

Regarding clear corners. Would love to remove the "fugly" stock amber lenses. After extensive research, they are illegal, regardless having amber bulbs. It's the lense, not lamp.

All vehicle lights are required to have the DOT or the FMVSS 108, (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) stamp to comply, and be legal under Federal law.

This came from our Hawaii recon authorities, as well. As Bill says, read online, it's all there.

Best bet would probably be ebay as far as pricing goes...

Super easy installation, 5 min. tops. There's a write up in the projects section if you need a guide.

As far as legality goes it's probably not legal...technically. Checked your profile and noticed you're in Forida. I hope you have never farted in a public place after 6 p.m. because you are prohibited to do so in your state.

I have clear corners, and I have committed the ultimate sin by cracking them open and painting them black to match my trac...

In almost 2 yrs. since having done this, I have never had a problem with the law. And as mentioned, a lot of people use them. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it too much, but that's just me. Ultimately it's your choice.

Seems like you have some tough decisions to make :smile0012:

Keola- Sweet & Sic. Always said, "black is beautiful, white is right". (IMO)

What happens when you are finished modifying your ST? Ask him.

Great job bro !!!

not much I can add to this conversation really, except that in my opinion the clear corner mod makes your truck look a whole step-up from the way it looks with the OEM orange side markers.

I left the OEM amber bulbs in my corner lenses and IMO it looks decent. I might switch to the silverstars that these boys are talking about, but for now mine are clear and legal as is.

Thanks guys! I went ahead and got them off ebay for $27.99 shipped, not bad at all IMO

Now I gotta decide if I want to leave them how they're are , or if I wanna tint them :)

but for now mine are clear and legal as is.

Possibly in Canada, but they are NOT legal in the USA. Law says there MUST be an amber reflector in the front of the vehicle. You have no amber reflector in the front of your vehicle. That makes it illegal in the USA.

Just because "cops havent pulled me over yet" does not mean it is legal. It just means that they do not notice it or have more important things to do.

It still does not make them legal.

Tom

p.s. I have clear lights in the front of my Trac and I know they are NOT legal.

Thanks for the Info Caymen....would hate to find that out the hard way after crossing the border for a hockey game or something :smile0005:

i dont think cops worry to much as long as they are still visible and being used...

like my tail lights i had to sand off some of the vht cuz it was too dark and not visible, that was the only time i got pulled over and it made sense

so as long as they are easily seen when in use i dont thing they care to much, they got better stuff to do like emissions test :smile0014:
