Looking to pick brains here....

I have close to 120 Cassette tapes and 40 single song tapes here. I used to use these to DJ way back in the day......

They are all store bought, mix of music from the Late 70's to mostly 80's and Early 90's.

I tried selling them ( cheap I may add) on Ebay and Craig's list.

I have 80-90% of the popular songs digital .mp3 now So i don't need them.

Whats your thoughts???

Should I throw them out, say good bye to them?

Keep them till they are junk any way and wind up throwing them out any way?

Any one interested in buying them?

Thanks !!

Todd,

I think STanner's suggestion is really good, and you can probably get more in a tax deduction that you can trying to sell them...

If you donate them to Goodwill, someone will probably buy them from their thrift stores and Goodwill will get a little money too. That's a Win-Win for you and Goodwill.

Cant take the deductions......

Any other ideas?....

And when I mean sell I was asking $50.00 for the whole lot..

Unfortunately they hold zero value in the digital age and not only that they are probably degraded to the point of being very poor quality. Rub a cotton swab on the tape. If you get any color transfer then the tapes are trash.

open them up and tie them around the bumper of someone you dont likes car..they will unroll for miles! haha we used to hold one end and throw them over power lines...makes a nice mess!

but enough with the mischief, donate!

10" reel to reel tapes are much bigger, and make great frisbees.

I have about 200 cassette tapes too and was wandering what to do with them. Someone would really buy them at a thrift store?? I guess I'll haul the box out of the basement...

Watch in 20yrs they'll be a hot collectable, haha!

Todd,

Cant take the deductions......

Why not? As a DJ you could also write it off as a business expense? Unless of course you are hiding something??:grin: But I won't tell.

They are worthless and not worh the time, energy, or money to advertise and sell, so why not just donate them to Goodwill...hey could use the few dollars they might get for them, even if you can't or won't take the deduction on your taxes.

Richard L, I was wondering the same thing. Doesn't even have to be a business deductions. Could be a personal deduction as a charitable contribution.

TJR,

I was asking why he could not take a Charitable tax deduction as any taxpayer can take, and for what ever reason that would not work, he could always deduct it as a business deduction.

I don't are to go into his reasons if he does not want to discuss them, and I certainly don't want to go into his family ethnics.

I wonder if there is a charity that would convert them to digital?

Then pass them out the the soldiers?
