On my way home tonight, heard the biggest bang eve while driving...

Crazy because I'd just been researching add a leafs. And tonight the bracket looks like it ripped in two. Drove about a mile home scraping the passenger side leaf spring on the ground. The body is bottomed out on the rubber bump stop and the spring touching the ground. Looks like I'm driving the mustang till next weekend. Parts won't be here till next Wednesday.
Just bought new shocks, luckily I didn't install them yet!

Wow, never seen anything like this before. Lucky you were close to home!

I check mine every 6 months b/c it was 'born in' Detroit, MI, where the winter roads are 'liquid salt'.
They're doing well in their new southern climate home.
But the u-bolts may need changing one of these days.
Incidentally, I use air shocks to lift the back when hauling heavy loads.
If I did that on a regular basis, I would add a 'helper spring' or a higher capacity spring kit.

Little sketchy putting it back together myself as I only had a trolly jack and put it on stands with a floor jack, but living on third floor in a apartment is tough to have everything. Have the second bracket abolts, just got the add a leaf today, finish it up after work Saturday morning. Plus new shocks

Nice pics!
Pretty new parts!
Job well-done, esp. under the circumstances!

Reminds me of back in the '80s fixing my VW Rabbit on chipped stone parking lot where I lived.
During winter had to lay down in a freezing stream of water and ice.
Not nice!

Even if the jack fell, it would have just scared the living **** out of me, I can still lay under the truck with plenty of room.
Saturday I'll do the rest

good work..

my leaf springs look like that ;-) all rusty and slightly terrifying.
I'd thought about replacing them but with everything rusted together, it will be a long job just getting them off..

Gotta luv the risks of apartment living!

For that very reason I got an INDUCTOR.
Have use it for impossible to break-free O2 sensors.
Also use on bending round-bar and other fun projects that would be too much trouble without it.

I have one I've used for my exhaust. Works great.
I'm just going to cut everything off on the other side. Since I have everything new
