CD player acting up.

My factory single disc cd player in my 04 ST keeps making a clicking sound and I am getting a Disc error message. I thought it could be a dirty cd so I had a new one not opend yet and put it in and it is still doing the same thing. It pops the disc out and is still making a clicking sound and want stop even if I turn it off. Has anyone else had this problem and If so what did you do to get it to stop. Thanks in advance for any help.
