Do a search for armrest, and you'll get a few ideas. One idea is to replace the plastic underside of the armrest with a metal one. They are about $50 on ebay, or amazon, or something. Another option is the armrest from an earlier explorer that has the same mount. Some of those are supposed to have metal internals that are a lot stronger. Cloth covers, too, I think.
