As title states. And all of the fuses have been checked twice. I checked with the local Ford dealership because I heard some factory stereos require a code when a battery is swapped, not this one. It's a Pioneer 6 disc. Any thoughts?

-Everything else in the truck works (dome lights, headlights, temp display, etc..)

Pull both fuses for the radio and see if it needs to be reset...

OR remove the NEG cable off the battery for a couple of min, step on the brake to drain the left over charge...

When changing this stuff did you do the proper procedure wit regard to Neg and positive cables ???

Yes, we did. Dingo helped me out with it. So we had all kinds of toys to test it with. He was as stumped as I was. We even pulled the battery to be sure there wasn't a fuse on the back..

I just checked the 2 radio fuses again, and they were fine. How do I reset the radio? Are you just referring to disconnecting the battery? I'll try that at lunch.

Pull the radio and cheak the three power leads. Ignition +12V, constant +12V, and negative -12V.

If you have all three working, then it is safe to assume the radio is bad.

What's wrong with -12V?

There are such things as positive and negative voltages. The electricidad across the spark plug gap is negative, so converted by the coil.

The electricidad has to go somewhere, the 12V going out should be consumed by the load, though I'm no real electrical engineer, but I confess that "negative -12V" could be redundant, but I'm not seeing what you're all up in the ROFLcopter about over this.

My buddy has his OEM head unit sittin in his garage, gonna test that out as soon as we can meet up. Thanks for the tips guys. Wait..Will an ''03 head unit plug n play in mine?

Kevin,

For the record, I am an electronics tech, and have been for 28 years. I have repaired everything from Car Stereo's to Televisions to Microwaves, and currently work for a major electronics manufacturer. I am fully aware of positive and negative voltages, as well as grounds. For the radio, there is 12V (Switched and constant) and Ground.

I have also done all my own auto repairs for the past 30+ years, everything from Engine overhauls to body work. I certainly dont know it all, but there is no -12V coming to this radio that I know of.

Tom, My apology if you were offended.
