Check Engine Light

Good Afternoon everyone, I originally posted a message on 10/1 about the "check engine light" coming on. Everyone told me to get the codes. Well, I had to go out of town for a while, but I went to Advance Auto this morning and got the codes. Here is what they printed out for me:



P0171

SYSTEM TOO LEAN

(BANK 1)



P0174

SYSTEM TOO LEAN

(BANK 2)



DTC PENDING CODES

NO FAULTS DETECTED



Any help will be appreciated.

Cracked vacuum elbow? Other vacuum leak in the intake system somewhere?

Common elbow issue...



Replace this 5/8 elbow..

Thank you Todd, I found it and it is cracked. I am not a mechanic, but it appears this hose can just be pushed on to the connecting ends, Is that correct? I don't see any clamps

Disconnect the battery ( NEG cable) for 15 min...



OR drive it for 3-5 days



OR have autozone reset it...

I had the same problem and changed the hose 6 days ago but the check engine light is still on, is there something else I need to do?

FYI. Amazon has this Actron scanner for $65. I just bought one. It's an older model they are closing out but does what I need it to. Will read the codes and allow you to reset.

You can get it at a Ford dealer. They will sell you the ell along with the plastic tube attached to it and the other ell on the other end for 30.00 to 40.00 dollars. I just removed the new ell and saved the other in case I need it in the future.

I bought a radiator elbow hose at Advanced that fit perfectly for $5.
