Roseau,
My check engine lights came on last week, brought it to my friends garage and got the following codes

P1000 - ODB system readiness test not ready

P0302 - cylinder # 2 misfire.

we reset them and the check engine lights went off. However with the lights still off we are still getting the P1000 code. Is this normal?

I have purchased new leads and spark plugs but have not installed them as yet (time).

Please advice

The p1000 is normal and will go away once all of the monitors (emission tests that the pcm does) have ran. Just because you have a misfire code doesn't mean that you need new plugs and wires.

How many miles do you have on your Trac?

It may just be a good idea to change your plugs and wires anyways, just to be safe.

If you end up taking it somewhere, they will try to sell you plugs and wires anyways.

Was the ST new or used wen you purchased it? Anything over 100K miles I would replace the plugs and wires as Tom says.
