I looked at the specs and couldn't find the one jiga-watt flux capacitor anywhere. This appears to be a 21st Century DeLorean. I am not sure who would buy a car that probably costs $100K to save $30 a week in gas. It is a really cool car, but I could buy two Lotus Elises for what I'm guessing this car will cost.

Right, Nelson. The people who buy these cars are definately not buying them for the gas savings. If you have $100,000 plus for a vehicle, are you really gonna be concerned about gas prices?

Nelson,

I couldn't agree more. Though, how is that any different then buying a new "small" car to save 30 bucks a week in gas? Figure in the price of the car, maintenance, insurance, tax, title, etc. and you are not saving a dime.

Few gasoline cars will do 0-60 in 4 seconds. That is amazing in itself.

by insuring that they are not allowed to be imported. I've heard teh same for a member of the Ford plant near me. The thing with Tesla is that it's US made, so they can do anything other then buy it out.

Ford did have an eletric Ranger out for a few years. and Some of there car have been FLEX since at least 2000. My 2000 Countour is FLEX. although I have never tryed E85. One of my co-workers did in his Ranger, an 04 I think. He said he got a little over 200 miles on a tank. I don't know if that's really worth teh prce savings.

Just my .02 cents.

The thing with Tesla is that it's US made....

From the Tesla website:

Where is the car made?

Components and subsystems for the car come from a variety of sources all over the world. Final assembly for the Tesla Roadster is in the UK.

Is this an American car company if everything is made outside the US?

Tesla Motors is an American car company with a UK subsidiary. The car is engineered, designed and developed by Tesla Motors. Our corporate headquarters is in San Carlos, CA, and all of our funding came from the US.

What is your relationship with Lotus?

Lotus Cars is assembling the Tesla Roadster under contract to Tesla Motors. Tesla Motors has also hired Lotus Engineering for certain design and engineering tasks. The Tesla Roadster style was developed in Lotus Engineering's design studio - Lotus Engineering won a design contest where several design firms submitted proposals. Lotus Engineering supplied the initial chassis which was significantly modified by Tesla Motors engineers.

You know I was thinking about buying a Ferrari Enzo, stripping the motor out of it and installing a cheap electric motor. Now I will just wait and buy one of these.
