What do you suggest for bringing back that mirror shine to diamond plate? I would like to clean the tailboard up on our firetrucks and get it back to original shape. Do you think BarKeepers Friend would do it?

Neverdull works wonders, or a chrome wheel polish....

I used to do ambulance refurbs. It was much easier to just replace it because corrosion causes the mirror surface to become pitted. No amount of polishing would bring it back to anything close to new. Not only that, but the diamonds really made it hard to get into all the crevices. And it ate up polishing bonnets within a couple of minutes.

Try mothers mag polish and instead of polishing pads use a swatch of carpeting. One of my friends at the fire house I retired from told me about it a few years back. the carpeting will get into the crevices and not break down as terry cloth would.

Like Mark said, replace it. Some rocket scientist washed one of our trucks with the acidic cleaner they was big rigs with and it really messed it up. We had to replace all of the diamond plate!

I use Flitz.

I got a kit a few years back that contained a tube of it with a polishing wheel to use in my drill. Later I bought a cone shaped polisher to use on wheels.

Great stuff.

We also use it for fine metals in our gift shop.
