So today my trac started bucking rround 1500-2000rpms and it was doing it. more in the morning while it was raining. Im pretty sure I need to change the sparkplugs, wires, and coil to fix this... I was going to get a set of red livewires but does anyone have any suggestion as to what coil pack and plugs I should get... I was origionally going to get a screamin demon pack but I heard that they die pretty early... any info is greatly appreciated.

Same issue I'm having, spray some glass cleaner, salt water or like on the wires whilr the truck is running. I bet you'll see the wires arcing off the headers, block and or heads.

I seriously doubt it's the coil pack. The rain is the give away.

Have you done a tune up or cleaned your IAC, MAF and changed your PCV valve yet? All these should be done if you've crossed 80k miles. Check out the projects setions, all of these things are in there.

I cleaned the MAF, IAC and throttle body last week and there was a big difference. My throttle body was nasty at 98k.

Check out the Cat's and pre-Cat's in the y-pipe (this is just a heads up). SInce your just under the 80k mile mark you're still under the 8 year/ 80k warranty for the OBDII parts to be covered by the Ford. This has nothing to do with your current problem, just good to know you can get stuff replaced under warranty.

Yeah, I would do as much of those things I listed above if not all of them.

I'd bet a just a fresh set of plugs will fix your problem....:supercool:

my '02 with over 200,000 mi on it has original wires and coil pack... time for its second set of plugs, though.

Probably not your issue, although this should be considered routine maintenance. GL

At 77k. I would replace plugs and wires first. Then see ifit needs a coil.

Live wires are not necesary. Just find a local store that sells, a qaulity spiral core wire. Same thing but will be much cheaper. Use motorcraft or autolite double platinums. Dont wast you $$ on fancy plugs.
