A mechanic told me i have a computer error on my 2001 sport trac. If you drive a couple blocks when truck is cold and start it again afterwards it keeps cranking wont start. But if you put the pedal to the floor it starts without flooding. The mechanic says it is a recall does anyone know or heard about this?

I'm not aware of a recall related to any issue like you describe for the first gen ST.

Are you sure the mechanic said "recall" and not "technical service bulletin?"

IF it will not start unless you push the pedal to the floor, try only pushing the pedal slightly down... If it starts, I suspect the IAC valve.

FI engines will very rarely flood, unlike carburated. Other sensors other than the TPS will control that. A leaking injector will flood an engine.

Posibly the TPS is at fault. But that should set a code though.

When the motor is cold ECU runs in open loop. A different set of values. Same as a cold carburated motor sets the choke for fuel inrichment.

BTW, you might get more answers. If you post this in the ST board.
