OK, been lagging a bit and I restored the computer to out of box condition.

So opened up the Reliability and Performance Monitor and everything is in most cases .40 or lower with a few programs hitting 4.25 to 7.1 occasionally.

However,,,, Goggle Tool Bar is CONSTANTLY at 49.00 on average.

Why is it so high. I have 4 gig of RAM plus and additional 1 gig permanent on the mother board.

I am going to delete it, but I do like it.

I like the pop up blocker and the always on top goggle slot I can type in.

But not if it is going to take 50% of my processor???

Suggestions or advice???

Thanks..

Ok, deleted Goggle Tool Bar and now my total CPU demand is only 3% to 6.8% unless I call upon a program.

If others would look at theirs, I would be interested to know if yours is pulling such a large demand.

I may have had some add-on or something causing the issue.

Just wondering..

Thanks...

I never use any type of tool bar. If I need google, I simply open a browser and search.

And that certainly does work. I was just too lazy. But not if it is sucking up so much of my processor..

I may reinstall it and see what it does just to see if I had some sort of a bug within it.

Hmmmm

Tool Bars, all Tool Bars are resource hogs. I repair computers in my home as a side line. I never install tool bars and remove them from all computers. I have 5 computers running right now as we speak.

And how do we remove the tool bars.?

I went into View/Toolbars/ and unchecked Comcast toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar, and Norton Toolbar.

Are they still using resources when unchecked ?

Thanks in advance,

PlymBob,

Yes, even if unchecked many of these toolbars have a memory resident footprint.

Easiest way to remove them is via "Add and Remove Programs" in the Control Panel.

Another thing to check is the "Startup" tab of the MSCONFIG program (from the start bar, click Run, enter MSCONFIG). When in the Startup area of MSConfig you can turn off (uncheck) any startup programs you don't think you need. Most are simply "task bar" icons in the lower right corner (the tray).

If you computer acts funny or a program doesn't run after you turn off one of these startup programs than simply go back in and check it to start.

If you have a lot of time, turning one off at a time, then rebooting is advised. Also, GOOGLE the names of some of those you find in the Startup area if unfamiliar. There are websites dedicated to telling you IF the program can be removed from startup without adverse effects.

On that, if you don't know what the items are in the start up list, google them and it will tell you and you can decide from there....

For what it is worth, my computer is MUCH better...

Not sure if your question is answered yet but the answer is Absolutely, they are still using resources. All you did was make them not visible on your browser. To remove them completely, you need to go to

Control Panel (normally can be found when you click the start button)

Then open Add/Remove Programs (or just programs in Vista and Windows 7)

Find your tollbar(s) on the list (you may have to wait for it to be populated)

Click on Remove. Do that with any and all Toolbars. None of them are useful beyond what you can do yourself and all use resources. Not to mention the data they collect on what you search and browse. If you need further help, email and I can phone you back anywhere in North America (even Hawaii) for free.
