Hello Everyone! I am taking my ST in on Saturday to get the transmission flushed at the dealer. I have a coupon from them and they will do it for $129.00. Seems about right as I have seen others get it done for more and some for a little less. My ST has around 38,000 miles on it now and I was wondering about the coolant. They also have a special running where they will flush the coolant and add up to 1 gallon of new coolant for $69.99. Is this a good deal? It seems like to flush the coolant, even at a 50/50 mix, I would need more coolant than 1 gallon. Is it better to have the dealer do this than to do it myself? I mean I know I can drain the radiator and then fill it back with coolant, but I am thinking that a dealer doing a flush would be more effective. (I also know that I would have to use the "gold" antifreeze because that is what is in there now) I have seen some kind of gunky kind of stuff near the cap of the radiator. Not a lot, and not rust by no means, but just a little stuff. I appreciate any and all responses. Thanks!

Todd...Cool! Do you have any instructions for that?? Another question I had. When I looked up the maintenance schedule in the manual, it said to replace at 100,000 miles OR 5 years. Since I have an 03, 5 years is going to come well before the 100,000 miles. Should I just go ahead and do it? Is the $69.99 a good deal, or about average. Thanks!

Awesome setup Todd. :)

I had mine done at about 95k. I did it when the coolant no longer was looking bright green.

Gary,

my 03 and 04 have the Ford Gold coolant, They say change at 100K miles....

The coolant is cheep and I did mine at 60 and at 120 i will do coolant and t-stat...

I just dint like letting coolant go that long...

I am sure under normally use the coolant will go 100K plus with no problem... I personally don't like letting it go that far..

And I think under the severe duty chart is says 60K....

Gary, remember the ST uses the special coolant, the dealer gives you 1 gallon of what type ??? is there an extra charge for the gold ???

And honestly $69 is not bad a price... they want almost $80.00 here... But for less then $40.00 I built that setup and have done 6 vehicles with it....
