Hi...My mother in law wants to buy a cheap....and I mean cheap computer. All she uses it for is cheching e-mail and surfing the web once and a while. What should she look for? She uses dial up for the internet. Are walmart cpu's any good? Thank you in advance.
 
Tigerdirect.com usually has some awesome deals. I just found this one on the site the moment I looked them up. Price is pretty cheap for what ya get. I don't know how cheap wal-marts are but doubt they can beat this price.
 
office depot and best buy have been running e-mail machines for around $300 after rebates..

The cheapest is to buy used from eBay or Craigslist, and buy locally. That way you pick it up, saving the shipping costs. You should be able to get a nice computer for simple web surfing and dialup for well under $200.



If you need a warranty, then stick with Dell, and look for refurb.

believe it or not the salvation army and red white and blue stores

sell really nice computers that people donate.

its worth a shot.
