To the OP, please educate yourself at the site I listed below. That also goes to others who have passed along wisdom to the Op. Creditboards is the one site which will enlighten you and improve your Fico score.
My advice is to NOT close accounts that are dormant for awhile. By a pack of gum or a pair of socks every four months or so.
Fico doesn't penalize you for your cards not being used, they just don't include them when compiling your score if they've been unused for awhile.
Creditboards is the place I go on a daily basis, it has over 53,000 users and I have improved my scores tremendously with the info I've learned there.
