OK...

Opinion of the day #2:

Going to buy a digital camera tomorrow/today, looking at the

Kodak ES Z650 6.1 mp. Researched, and for what I need, it seems

perfect. I currently have a CX 7530 5.0 mp Kodak and it has been perfect for

the 3 years I've owned it. Recieved many compliments on the pics that I have

taken with it, so I'm OK with Kodak, as far as the brand goes.

Anyone have exp. with this model, as it seems to be one of the most popular

models of the series?

Thanks...TnB...:D

No experience with that series. I just picked up a Sony DSC-W100 for $230 from BB, on sale. 8.1 megapixels, easy point and shoot. Much nicer, quicker, than my old Sony 3.2 megapixel from 7 years ago that it's replacing.

I like the Canon PowerShot's. I have the SD-500, no problems and great pics.

No experience with the Kodak cameras, although they are known for rich colors. The camera you are contemplating has a 10x zoom, and one of the concerns I would have is that this camera lacks image stabilization, which is important if you are taking pictures at the longer focal lengths. I have a Sony H5 with 12x optical which has a good IS system, and takes great pictures with lots of manual control for those who like to set their own picture parameters. You may want to look into the Panasonc FZ7, which is a 12x camera in the same price range as the Kodak, but does have a good image stabilization system, and compares well in lots of other categories. You can compare them at the included link. Good luck.

Tracnblack, I have owned two Kodak digital cameras. I currently have the Kodak Z7590 and love it. I've had no problems with the Kodak cameras. I'd say if it fits your needs, get it. Brian

Looks like a nice camera with good reviews. I know you like the Kodak and want to stay with them so have you thought about going with the Z612? It has some additional features including a 12x zoom with image stabilization and a 2.5" instead of 2" LCD. It is also a 6.1mp camera and is slightly smaller. Another nice one is the P712 which has all the options of the 612 but is 7.1mp.

A great site to check camera reviews is Steve's Digicams. Take a look there.

i've used that series of kodaks before, nice camera. get the dock and the rechargable battery pack for it also....worth every penny....

I also have the Kodak Z7590 which is very similar to the Z650. My brother and mother both have the Z650's and like them. We absolutely love our Z7590, the zoom was a big selling point for my wife because she wanted something to take photos at concerts and it has worked out great. It is a great all purspose camera IMHO.

TracNBlack,

My wife and I have a Kodak Easyshare Z740 with 10x zoom...it's a couple of years old. Takes BEAUTIFUL pictures. We love it. It's a clear predecessor to the Z650 as that one is 6.1MP and our 740 is only 5MP.

Feature for feature, they are the same camera, in the same housing.

You will love it.

We got the Printer/Dock which recharges the rechargeable batteries in our Z740 (regular batteries, not proprietary, which is also great if you run out of juice when on the road).

P.S. Look for a combo package that has the camera and the printer-dock together....you can save a ton. We love the printer dock. We have a Shuttle XPC computer on the desk in our kitchen, which is a small computer, shaped like a box (10" x 10" x 12" long)...and the printer dock sits on top of it, and they compliment one another. That way, when we walk in the house with the camera, we put it on the printer-dock and it is always charged, always ready to transfer or print photos.

My next camera is going to be a digital video with an internal HD (instead of removable media) that also takes snap shots.

Just waiting for the prices to come down. :)

Here is a standard, unedited, unretouched picture with my new Kodak Z710:

(It is a picture taken of some flowers I bought my wife, just because!!!). :

Still playing with the settings, but so far, very happy with the ease of use, picture

settings, and the manual control options...

:)

Thanks for the replies...

Gotta go print some Wedding Invitations for my Daughter.

I'll post them on here later to see what you all think!!!

Tnb...;)

^^^ BUMP ^^^

Trac did such a fine job reviewing this camera (and I have the exact same 5MP model) so when I saw this deal I thought I would share with you folks:

CompUSA.com has the Kodak EasyShare Z650, 6.1 mega pixels, with Printer Dock, shipped FREE at a low price of $229.99 (that's $120 instant savings). It's a great camera and with the printer dock, even better.

Here it is:

Update on Kodak Camera Model Z710, 4/12/07:

Unfortunately, shortly after I took that photo, the lens retractor/extender

mechanism failed within the camera. Took it back to Best Buy, and the

salesperson in the Camera Department said that one was returned the

previous day for the same problem.

I had been hearing some really good things about the Canon S3 IS model

that was recently released. They had one in stock, so I thought I'd give it

a try. It was $120 dollars more than the Kodak, but with the excellent

reviews it was given (consistantly 8.5 to 9's) on most of the major photography

sites, and my doing photography on the side during my layoff, I felt

I couldn't go wrong.

It's controls are relatively intuitive, LCD is easy to see in most lighting conditions,

and the picture quality is superior to the Kodak's.

[Broken External Image]:

The above is a photo I took for our Local Union Newsletter during our new

product announcement ceremony. The flourescent and halogen lighting is not

the best for photography, and at 2/3ds the original size and quality for posting

on the site, you can still see the tire tracks in the dust on the floor!

Have taken hundreds of pics with it, and all have turned out fantastic.

Hope this helps...:D

The Kodak C 7530 I have has been flawless in the almost four years I have owned

it. I think there was just a bad production run on the series of Kodak that I returned.

Happens to a lot of manufacturers, though.

It's even hard to tell the difference in the 5 meg C 7530 and the higher priced ( and

only 6 meg) Canon. However, the Canon allows me to be much more creative now

that I am actually learning something about photography!:D

There are some Canon S3 IS pictures in the "cruise" folder in my library.

The rooster and Margaritaville were both zoomed quite a bit.
