I'm noting the front wheels on my ST always look much dirtier than the rears. I'm guessing perhaps this is brake dust? Are there some kind of covers made to prevent this? If not, what's the best way to clean this mess off the wheels? Spring is trying to make an apperance around her and it'll be time to clean up my baby and really mae her shine!

yeah its brake dust, and yes there are sheilds you can put in to help with it, i dont have a link for you but look in the projects im pretty sure there is a project about it

I hate when this happens. The best fix is to buy the better brake pads, the cheap ones create more brake dust. I always use the ceramic pads and i dont get the brake dust..... go buy some good wheel cleaner and start washing....

I sell the Kleen Wheels, but even with ceramics, you still get dust. It's just not black.

Kleen Wheels huh? Anybody here try 'em? How well do they work? I don't really see this problem on the rear wheels, just the fronts. Is a "set" a package of 2 or 4? If 4, I might be inclined to share a "set" with someone else here. As I say, I'd be inclined to only put these on the front wheels.

Like i said in the 2nd post, change the stock cheap pads out with a set of ceramic, it may be cheaper than the kleen wheels. plus I think the ceramic work better, yes you may get alittle, and i mean alittle brake dust but you can go a month without cleaning the truck and the wheels will still look great.... Dingo im not trying to take business away from you, i have no stock in ceramic pads but they do work great....

I have Kleen wheels on my stock xlt 5 spoke wheels. They work great. I bought 2 sets so the rear would look the same. The 5 spoke wheels are open so as you can see through them. So it looks better front and rear. IMO, it looks better with than without them.

Iam running 18" aftermarkrts now so they dont fit. Iam saving them for when I go back stock.

I have them and they work great..... No problems with heat buildup or anything and my wheels are a hell of a lot cleaner.

They are worth it.

They work very well. I use them on a T-Bird with 16 spoke wheels. I have used them in the past with other vechicles and I was very pleased. Like FastEddie says, using them front and rear and they become less noticable...

I agree with the folks that mentioned using aftermarket pads. Once I switched from OEM to aftermarket, I have a MUCH easier time cleaning the wheels.
