I went to NAPA yesterday to get a feeler gage, and the guy behind the counter said that if the plup tappers (like ours do) that they do not need to be gapped. Is that correct? Thanks.
On the ST, the gap is pretty big; something like .065. It's almost a nickle.
Some people (if you do a search on the forums) reported that the gap on their original plugs where way out. Mine were pretty much right on.
Good luck replacing them; I did no. 1 & 2 throught the wheel well (just unsnap the flap behind the wheel (passenger side). I broke # 2 (and my swivel...); it was too seized.
You are probably right, I went on top of my head while I was looking at other numbers in a spreadsheet.... It's still a pretty big gap.
Anyway, Rodger can always look at the Chilton/Haynes book at any local parts store (don't have to buy it, just read it there). If buying a book; I would recommend the service manual.
All spark plugs need to be gapped. Even if they claim they are pre-gapped, they need to be checked since some bozo at the parts store may have drop one.
