Door Lock broke

Hello All,,

I had the "rivet" that holds the actuator in place on the drivers door break. It will not lock using the key fob but I can get it to lock with the key. Where can I get this rivet? Is it an easy fix? Might attempt it myself. 2001 Trac. Thanks!

It is Ford part number -W525172-S300. It's a 15mm pop rivet. Ford's suggested retail price is $3.65. You may have to take off the door panel so you can hold it in place while you attach it with a pop rivet gun.

do you know if I can rent a pop rivet gun somewhere? That will probably cost me more than the rivet!

both of my doors broke... that rivit is a royal PITA to get at. You would have to disassemble the door to get at it, and the rivit has to be drilled out. The only issue on drilling is that the rivit has plastic on it which made it hard to drill. The plastic melts and coats the bit, rendering it useless.. I gave up and used a self tapping sheet metal screw. :angry: The passenger side I has enough of the shaft sticking out, I crimped a nut on it to hold it... Keep your lock mechanisms lubed!!!

On one door, I was able to put some pressure on the door lock knob to position the servo bracket on the inside of the door frame. This allowed me to simply insert the pop rivet without removing the door panel. The driver's door however, was completely a different experience. I had to remove the interior door panel, remove the servo, drill out the portion of the rivet in the servo bracket, and then reassemble. that was a PITA!
